What you will do

Role Overview:

Support federal government affairs for EDP Renewables North America, working under the daytoday direction of the Federal Affairs Lead and in coordination with the Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs. The Associate will contribute to the execution of the companys policy analysis and advocacy agenda across North America, including the United States and Mexico, through research, coordination, drafting, and stakeholder engagement support.

Preferred location: Washington, DC.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support federal advocacy efforts by assisting with engagement before federal policymakers in the U.S. and Mexico, including the legislative and executive branches, under the direction of senior government affairs staff.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with offices of elected officials, relevant industry associations, allied nongovernmental organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Research, monitor, and analyze federal legislative and regulatory developments and assess potential implications for EDPR NA’s business activities in the U.S. and Mexico.
  • Track industry publications, mainstream media, and government communications to identify relevant policy and regulatory updates.
  • Prepare briefing materials, background research, meeting summaries, and followup communications for use by the federal affairs team.
  • Draft internal policy updates and summaries for review by senior government affairs leadership, including assessments of proposed and enacted legislative and regulatory actions.
  • Support the execution of the company’s federal policy and advocacy strategy, including timelines, stakeholder tracking, and coordination with internal teams, consultants, lobbyists, and trade associations.
  • Assist with conference participation, public forums, and government hearings, including preparation and logistics.
  • Support the federal affairs team on broader legislative and regulatory initiatives as needed.
  • Support the government affairs team in administrative and compliancerelated aspects of managing the EDPR NA Political Action Committee (PAC).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What are we looking for

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, economics, or a related field required; advanced degree acceptable but not required.
  • At least three years of experience in policy analysis, government affairs, political research, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in federal policy and the clean energy sector; prior exposure to renewable energy policy is a plus.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common productivity tools.
  • Ability to synthesize complex policy information clearly and concisely.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Speech/Reading:  Ability to speak, read, and write English and Spanish proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
