Role Summary
The Global Energy Management (GEM) team manages the commercial optimisation and performance of renewable energy assets across markets. The team is responsible for portfolio optimisation, power purchase agreements (PPAs), retail performance monitoring, regulatory compliance, settlement verification, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders including Market Operators, TSOs, and Regulators.
This internship provides exposure to wholesale electricity markets, renewable energy certificates (RECs), portfolio modelling, and energy contract management in a fast-evolving energy landscape.
Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Optimisation & Market Operations Support
- Support economic dispatching and scheduling activities.
- Assist in backtesting and monitoring of realised performance (generation output, exports, captured prices).
- Perform analysis on intra-day spreads and market price movements.
- Support modelling of energy portfolio forecasts including energy, RECs, and revenue projections.
- Assist in portfolio performance monitoring for Singapore retail operations.
2. Contracting & Structuring Support
- Support balancing contract management including coordination with Origination and PPA teams.
- Assist in asset packaging and structuring support for PPAs within the SG portfolio.
- Support PPA settlement modelling and validation.
- Assist with intra-group contract administration and documentation tracking.
- Support analysis for VN-SG REC swap transactions and regulatory impact assessments.
3. Settlement, Billing & Verification
- Assist in settlement verification including invoice analysis and reconciliation.
- Support billing review and payment verification processes.
- Support PR/PO tracking and payment documentation.
- Assist in analysing mark-to-market (M2M) and hedge effectiveness data with Accounting.
- Support coordination with Treasury on credit support and margining matters.
4. Regulatory & Market Compliance
- Assist in registration processes with TSO, Regulators, and Market Operators.
- Support licence tracking and compliance management.
- Support retail reporting submissions (e.g. EMA reporting requirements).
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess potential portfolio impacts.
5. Data & Systems Support
- Support integration and validation of external data feeds (Market Operator / TSO API data).
- Assist in building dashboards or models to improve reporting efficiency.
- Support automation and process improvement initiatives within the team.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Energy Studies, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or related fields.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, basic VBA is a plus).
- Knowledge of Python, Power BI, or data analytics tools is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
- Interest in renewable energy markets and commercial optimisation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
