Operational Data Office Senior Specialist

The mission of Operational Data Office and Reporting area is to ensure the EDPR Corporate Operational Reporting and KPI generation and the management of the Operational Data and Reporting solutions to grant the standardization, governance, quality and optimization of the data and reporting processes to add value to the business.
Operational Data Office main accountabilities:
• Management of the Interstellar Datahub Solution, ensuring the internalization of the functional maintenance and evolution activities of EDPR’s operational data solutions.
• Ensure the design, development, engineering, evolution and technical ownership of the Operational Interstellar datahub and cloud-based operational data platform.
• Coordination with Operational Reporting Solution, ensuring the alignment with the data model and available information in Interstellar Datahub Solution.
• Grant an efficient interface and interaction with the rest of Dispatch Center areas, as well as with other EDPR areas and stakeholders which are relevant for the Operational Data Office and Reporting area activities and responsibilities.
This role provides the leadership required for the development, engineering, and evolution of EDPR's Operational Data Platform, combining expertise in Data Engineering, cloud technologies, data architecture, automation, and software development to support critical business capabilities.
Main responsibilities:
Operational Datahub Management
- Own the end-to-end management, governance, and continuous evolution of the Operational Interstellar Datahub, ensuring its availability, reliability, scalability, and alignment with business objectives.
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize data models, tables, views, and data structures within the Databricks environment to support operational and analytical use cases.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration processes for incorporating new operational systems, business assets, and external data sources.
- Develop and maintain technical mechanisms supporting data quality monitoring and validation.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize code, scripts, stored procedures, notebooks, and automated routines supporting data processing, reporting, and operational workflows.
- Design and implement reusable data services, business logic, and automated processes that enable efficient generation of reports, operational views, KPIs, and business insights.
- Create, maintain, and continuously improve dashboards, reports, and visualization solutions to support internal operations, customer reporting, and management decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand operational requirements, identify opportunities for automation, and translate business needs into scalable and sustainable data solutions.
- Work alongside technical teams to ensure seamless integration between operational systems, cloud platforms, and Interstellar DataHub architecture.
- Monitor platform performance and proactively identify opportunities to optimize data models, queries, pipelines, workflows, and system resources.
- Manage the lifecycle of data assets, ensuring version control, traceability, consistency, security, and compliance with internal data governance standards.
- Define and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and development standards to ensure maintainability and knowledge sharing.
- Support incident analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions related to data processes and platform operations.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, methodologies, and best practices to continuously improve the Operational Interstellar DataHub architecture, capabilities, and efficiency.
- Drive automation initiatives that reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency, and increase the reliability of recurring business processes.
- Act as the primary technical owner of the Operational Interstellar DataHub, ensuring its long-term sustainability, continuous enhancement, and alignment with evolving business and operational requirements.
Platform Engineering & Architecture
- Define and maintain the technical roadmap of the Operational Interstellar DataHub.
- Design scalable cloud-native architectures.
- Maintain CI/CD processes and deployment pipelines.
- Ensure platform performance, resiliency and security.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure utilization and operating costs.
- Define development standards and coding guidelines.
- Evaluate emerging technologies applicable to the platform.
- Ensure interoperability with enterprise systems and APIs.
Systems and Stakeholders Knowledge
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the renewable energy operational landscape, market solutions, and emerging technologies relevant to operational data management and reporting.
- Continuously evaluate industry trends, commercial platforms, and innovative technologies that could enhance the capabilities, efficiency, and scalability of the Interstellar DataHub Solution.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, technology providers, and subject matter experts to assess new functionalities, architectures, and best practices that support the evolution of the Interstellar DataHub.
- Analyze business opportunities and propose enhancements that improve operational monitoring, reporting capabilities, data accessibility, and overall business value.
- Act as a technical reference for data management and reporting solutions, ensuring alignment between business needs, technological capabilities, and corporate data strategy.
- Identify and coordinate the definition of new operational business needs.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Establish strong collaboration with Operational and Tenchical departments, DGU, and other business departments to ensure the Operational Interstellar DataHub effectively supports operational processes and strategic objectives.
- Gather, analyze, prioritize, and translate business requirements into scalable data solutions, ensuring continuous alignment between operational needs and platform capabilities.
- Design and develop technical solutions supporting the definition, planning, and implementation of new operational data requirements, reports, dashboards, KPIs, and analytical functionalities.
- Promote the adoption of standardized data models, reporting practices, and governance principles across business units.
- Facilitate communication between technical and business stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of priorities, requirements, risks, and delivery expectations.
Operational Reporting Organizational Milestones
- Support the continuous adoption and effective utilization of the Interstellar DataHub Solution across the organization by providing technical guidance, user support, and knowledge sharing.
- Develop and maintain training materials, technical documentation, user guides, and best practice recommendations for end users and key stakeholders.
- Participate in communication, training, and change management initiatives related to new functionalities, reporting capabilities, and platform improvements.
- Contribute to cross-functional projects and organizational initiatives where operational data, reporting, and analytics play a strategic role.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify processes, automate repetitive activities, and improve user experience.
EDPR Institutional Representation
- Contribute to the promotion and visibility of the Interstellar DataHub Solution as a strategic operational data platform within EDPR.
- Support the preparation of presentations, demonstrations, and technical materials showcasing the platform's capabilities, achievements, and business value.
- Collaborate in interactions with external stakeholders, including technology partners, investors, regulatory authorities, industry associations, and technical working groups, when required.
- Represent the Operational Interstellar DataHub initiatives in internal and external forums, promoting best practices in operational reporting, data management, and digital transformation.
- Contribute to positioning EDPR as a reference in the use of operational data, analytics, and digital solutions within the renewable energy sector.

What are we looking for:
- Graduation in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or another that fits the desired profile.
- Ability to read, write and speak English, and Portuguese or Spanish
- Experience working with Databricks in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence environments with proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, optimization and analysis and programming experience in Python and/or advanced SQL development. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud-based data architectures.
- Mandatory experience in Databricks, Python, SQL, data pipelines, automation scripts, notebooks, and data transformation processes and cloud-native data engineering.
- Familiarity with Delta Lake and Spark technologies.
- Proficiency in distributed data processing architectures.
- Knowledge of metadata management, and master data management principles.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT workflows, data integration processes, and orchestration frameworks.
- Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modelling, data warehousing concepts, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience implementing data quality controls, validation frameworks, monitoring mechanisms, and data governance best practices.
- Experience working with source code repositories, version control systems (e.g., Git), collaborative development practices, and CI/CD methodologies is considered an advantage.
- Experience working directly with clients and translating business requirements into analytical solutions.
- Strong knowledge in reporting tools, namely PowerBI or other related data analysis and visualization tools.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, advanced Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid communication skills; capability to establish technical discussions in different cultural environments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate concurrent initiatives, and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
