Safety and Structural Monitoring Technician

Dams Safety department is looking for an Safety and Structural Monitoring Technician.
What you will do:
- Develop Structural Observation activities, namely:
- Carry out routine visual inspections of hydraulic structures and observation systems;
- Perform readings from dam observation system instruments;
- Provide support to the Dams Safety Area and the Service Provider at the various EDP dams in Portugal, with a primary focus on EDP dams along the Douro River;
- Ensure and coordinate the process of sending and receiving Reading Units (RU) for repair and calibration actions.
- Maintenance of observation systems, such as:
- Cleaning of drainage and piezometric networks;
- Dismantling of foundation extensometer heads;
- Dismantling, repair, and reassembly of plumb line systems.
- Supervise outsourced Structural Observation activities assigned to the External Service Provider (ESP), namely:
- Collaborate in the management of the Structural Observation Services contract in close coordination with the entire Dams Safety team;
- Verify and communicate to the ESP any pending items and deficiencies in the maintenance activities of the observation systems;
- Carry out control of planning, work quality, and safety requirements during the execution of ESP activities.
- Coordinate interfaces among the various stakeholders involved in Structural Observation activities, particularly the Production Center (PC), namely:
- Collaborate in the implementation of corrective maintenance actions for observation systems and structural elements;
- Collaborate with geodetic teams (internal or external) in the collection of observation data required for monitoring campaigns;
- Collaborate in ensuring appropriate conditions for the execution of monitoring campaigns.
- Accompany LNEC technical teams during the preparation of inspection visits with the Authority, namely:
- Ensure the necessary logistics to enable the collection of reservoir water samples;
- Accompany LNEC technicians in observation data collection and inspection activities of structures and observation systems.
- Accompany Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) and LNEC during visits to the marginal slopes of the Carrapatelo, Régua e Valeira reservoirs, namely:
- Ensure the necessary logistics for access to the various areas;
- Accompany IP and LNEC technicians in inspection activities of the structures and observation systems

What are we looking for:
- 12th grade of schooling or a technical course.
- Preference for professional experience in activities related to dam safety, without excluding other observation-related experience.
- A proactive and curious profile is sought;
- Valid driving license (mandatory);
- Full availability for frequent travel within the country;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and its main applications is required. Knowledge of SAP is an asset;
- Skills and interest in IT tools such as Power BI are valued;
- Knowledge of the English language (speaking, reading, and writing) is valued;
- Ability to work under pressure, with agility and responsiveness, and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
