Legal Specialist

What you will do:
EDP Renewables is seeking a Legal Specialist to join a three-member team.
Reporting to the Head of Legal France & Belgium, you will provide legal support to the development of wind, solar PV and BESS projects (public law, environmental law, planning and zoning law, and real estate law). You will handle a wide range of matters relating to securing projects and monitoring their regulatory compliance, working in close collaboration with the operational teams.
The Junior Legal Specialist delivers focused legal support by providing legal counsel, drafting and reviewing documents, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies. This role supports the EDP Group’s legal function by managing day-to-day legal issues and facilitating efficient legal operations.
- Project development: general support to the operational teams (regulatory analysis, review of permit application files, legal monitoring of projects, liaising with the competent authorities).
- Planning and real estate law support: review of land agreements, coordination with the notary, support on land acquisition strategy, planning law analyses.
- Management and monitoring of litigation and pre-litigation matters (primarily administrative law): liaising with external counsel, coordination of the operational teams, deadline and calendar management, updating of case-tracking reports.
- Support on calls for projects and calls for tenders (document review, risk analysis) and on M&A transactions.
- Legal and regulatory watch, training of operational teams, awareness-raising on regulatory matters.
- Participation in meetings held by the representative bodies of the wind and solar PV industry.

What are we looking for
- Professional experience (3 years) within the public law/environmental law department of a leading law firm, or as in-house counsel (energy or industrial sector).
- Master's degree in law (Energy, Environment, Public Law or Real Estate Law), ideally combined with the CRFPA, a business school or a Sciences Po qualification.
- Good knowledge of: Planning law, Environmental law (ICPE permitting), Public law.
- Expertise in renewable energy regulatory topics and in public law aspects related to development of renewable energy projects.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Good interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Fluency in English; other languages are a plus.
