We are looking for a Tax Associate to join our team.

 

Main responsibilities:

Tax Advisory and Business Support

  • Provide tax technical support to local tax teams, business units and platforms on corporate tax and international tax matters.
  • Support the analysis of tax implications arising from business operations, new projects and internal initiatives.
  • Coordinate, where required, with external tax advisors on advisory, compliance or project-related matters.
  • Monitor relevant legislative, regulatory and case law developments and assess their potential impact on EDP Group operations.
  • Participate in cross-platform and cross-functional tax workstreams, ensuring alignment between local tax teams and the Global Tax Hub.

International Tax and Transaction Support

  • Support M&A transactions, acquisitions, disposals, mergers and corporate restructuring projects from a tax perspective.
  • Assist in tax due diligence, structuring analysis and implementation workstreams.
  • Conduct tax analysis of cross-border operations, including permanent establishment risks, withholding tax implications and treaty application.
  • Collaborate with local tax teams and business stakeholders on multinational projects involving corporate reorganizations, operational structuring and tax optimization.

Tax Reporting, Controlling and Risk Management

  • Support the tax reporting function, including quarterly tax packages, tax contingency reporting and other internal reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the identification, monitoring and assessment of tax risks and opportunities across jurisdictions.
  • Support the follow-up of tax audits, tax claims and potential litigation matters, in coordination with local teams, legal teams and external advisors.
  • Contribute to the preparation of tax analyses and documentation supporting the Group's tax positions.
  • Help ensure the consistency, quality and timely delivery of tax information provided by local teams to the Global Tax Hub.

Tax Policy, Process Improvement and Digitalization

  • Support the implementation and monitoring of EDP Group's tax policy, ensuring alignment with the Group's strategic goals, governance standards and ethical principles.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at improving tax processes, controls and reporting flows.
  • Participate in digitalization projects within the tax function, including automation, data quality improvement and reporting efficiency initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities to enhance coordination, standardization and knowledge sharing across the Group's tax teams.

What are we looking for:

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in corporate tax, preferably with exposure to international tax matters. Previous experience in a Big Four firm, reputable law firm or in-house tax department of a multinational group is a plus.
  • Degree in Law, Tax, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field.
  • Advanced or proficient level of written and spoken English.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with tax reporting tools, data analytics or automation tools is a plus.
  • Hands-on, collaborative and open-minded profile.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work autonomously while coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage several workstreams and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong process improvement mindset, with an interest in digitalization, automation and innovation within the tax function.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate studies or specialization in taxation would be valued.
  • Spanish or other languages are a plus.
