Mission |
Coordinate the transversal engineering activity to supervise and support globally the M&A and Origination teams in the analysis (Due Diligence) of the business opportunities and initiatives of PV plants and BESS projects. Manage the initial engineering and design phase of projects analysis in all geographies where EDPR has presence.
Create and implement best practice of engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve business performance and to secure the implementation of EDPR technical standards in all the geographies.
Compile, process and analyze the technical information needed for the design assessment to ensure the application of uniform criteria when considering different investment alternatives enabling the best selection of projects.
Main Accountabilities |
- PROJECT DESIGN:
- To perform and carry out the design activities along with the identification of the technical upsides and levers to optimize the projects, mitigating and identifying technical risks, reducing CAPEX and/or increasing the revenues. To identify main constraints and restrictions to be taken as part of the design process. To execute the needed designs and provide with the quantities for the project capex estimation.
- Coordination with PV Technology the selection of the main equipment, modules, racking system and inverters verifying the technical capability
- Selection and preparation of the PV layouts respecting EDPR standards and optimizing the solution technically and economically
- Set for and apply EDPR electrical standards (design temperature, dc/ac, pitch, looses,.. ) along with the electrical experts
- To supervise and apply the civil design works base on EDPR standards along with the civil experts
- ENGINEERING TRANSVERSAL SUPPORT:
- Provide technical support and assist the department to ensure the best technical-economic conditions for the project analysis.
- Develop design tools to standardized and improve the project designs
- Coordinate the elaboration of different design studies for proper assessment of the projects
- Support the Standards department in the elaboration of the company specifications for the technical adequacy
- Ensure strong communication with corporate areas to facilitate exchange of information and implementation of changes and improvements. Ensure the coordination of service provision from Technology areas, such as Civil & Mechanical, Electrical & Control, PV Technology, BESS Technology and BESS engineering.
- Coordinate the planned works and project information continuously and effectively with cross-functional teams, collaborate closely with various departments including M&A, Development, Origination, Procurement, Finance, Energy Assessment and O&M.
- Support the transfer of the acquired projects to the Local E&C Team, ensuring the delivery of the full package of the VDR technical information and the developed information along the project technical assessment and pre-engineering.
- SPECIALIZED STUDIES COORDINATION: Coordinate and validate with other Technology Units the execution of specific key studies (design temperature, collector system, reactive power compensation, foundation design, geotechnical, corrosion, noise analysis, static/dynamic loads, lifetime, among others) for integration in the design process, to minimize the risk associated to the design. Coordination with PV Technology team for the selection of the main equipment, modules, racking system and inverters verifying the technical capability.
- PROVIDERS AND SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT: Coordinate daily the Engineering FWA-Frameworks Agreements and other externals. Establish relationships with the main sources and providers for the whole value chain to include the most efficient technical and economical options to the engineering designs for each site.
- GLOBAL ENGINEERING PROCESSES: Working with the PMs team members in the implementation of new company corporate engineering initiatives, such as Project Scrubbing. Coordination of the initiatives and activities, following the projects engineering execution done by the Regional Engineering teams, supporting in the definition and implementation of new methodologies for value engineering, projects optimization ensuring the application of the best engineering practices. Work with the different local engineering teams in the RFP process and analysis
- STANDARDIZATION: Assure the application of the common standards in the studies and projects, supervising its adaptation to applicable local regulation, to avoid non justified deviations and maximize the investment efficiency with all the technical warranty needed. Engineering & Construction best practices definition and implementation. Challenge Technical Standards applicability and verify and justify deviations from them, to assure the technical solvency and the technical-economic efficiency of the projects. Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes.
- CAPEX ESTIMATION: Provide with accurate and optimum information for CAPEX estimation of the potential project or investment opportunity. Prepare the different scenarios through the engineering activities for the final estimation.
- RISK ASSESSMENT: Evaluate the technical risk of the project, identifying and raising all the factors that could affect the design of the future power plant. Analyzing the potential impacts on schedule or capex and proposing mitigation actions to minimize such risk.
