Provide support to the Global Energy Management platform in the EDP Group by supervising the market risk within the conventional and renewable power generation and trading activities. Evaluate impact in exposures of evolving market regulation scenarios. Contribute to development in potential new geographies through the delivery of analysis needed for company’s strategic decisions in terms of organizational energy portfolio, investment decisions (international expansion), budget and business plan definition.


Main Accountabilities


1. Making part of the Global Energy Management (GEM) platform within the EDP Group, preparation of Steering Committees held every month, covering the following items:
•    Monitor and control of price, volume and shape risk in open exposures arising from both conventional and renewable generation and financial hedges (electricity, gas, coal, CO2, environmental attributes, etc.)
•    Calculate and monitor risk metrics that supervise the activity of the Global Energy Management platform (Generation, Prop Trading and Asset Backed Trading). 
•    Monitor basis risk, together with hedge ratio through financial swaps and FTRs at EDPR Global level.
•    Liquidity risk assessment.   
•    Definition, implementation and backward testing of risk policies.  
•    On-demand strategic analysis.

2. Risk support to EDPR Origination Department:
•    Structuring of PPAs: Physical/Financial, shape, optionality, tenor, delivery through transmission, etc

3. Risk support to EDPR Market Operations Department:
•    Risk models for hedging commodities and congestion
•    Risk models for scheduling

4. Propose market risk procedures improvements in the Global Energy Management.

5. Automation of Market Risk monitoring in the GEM Platform (SQL, Datalake, PowerBI) 

Requerid Profile



University Degree on Business Administration, Economics, Engineering (MBA and CFA a plus). Excellent Academic Record.



+3 years of professional experience in a risk, financial or consultant position.



•    Experience with market risk in Bank (fronting or middle office) or energy company.
•    Finance, Accounting and Statistics (MBA a plus).
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office and statistical tools (ex: @Risk).
•    Knowledge of SQL, Power BI and other automation tools.



•    English – Fluent.
•    Spanish – Fluent.
•    Portuguese (a plus).



•    Good analytical and quantitative skills.
•    Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
•    Good team worker within and outside department.
