MISSION

 

Collaborate in managing and monitoring EDPR’s group market exposure related to energy generation, sales activity, and hedging strategy.

As a member of EDPR Global Risk team you will be responsible for setting, monitoring and reporting on the risk strategy of the Group. In close coordination with different areas of the company (Global Energy Management, Finance, Market Operations, etc.) you will ensure adherence to Group Risk policies and limits, and undertake analyses needed for the company’s strategic decisions, mainly in terms of organizational energy portfolio, but also in investment decisions, budget and business plan definition.
 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

1.    As part of the Global Risk team at EDP Renewables, collaborate in the preparation of Risk Committees held on a monthly/quarterly basis and presentation to the Top Management of the company, covering the following items:
•    Monitoring of mitigation of energy price risk (electricity, environmental attributes, etc.) and hedge ratio levels at country and EDPR global level;
•    Monitoring of shape, basis and balancing risk;
•    Liquidity risk assessment;
•    Definition, implementation and backward testing of risk policies;
•    On-demand strategic analyses;

2.    Assess impact of EDP’s Global Energy Management unit activities in EDPR risk position:
•    Ensure EDPR merchant position and hedge ratio levels adhere to established policy limits;
•    Propose strategies and actions to mitigate market risk;
•    Analyze impact of new PPAs and hedging activity in overall company’s risk position;

3.    Monitor regulatory changes in renewable/electricity sector across EDPR geographies, analyzing impact in company risk position and propose mitigating actions;

4.    Propose new market risk procedures and policy improvements in EDPR, based on market evolution and company’s risk appetite;

5.    Automation of Market Risk monitoring at EDPR (SQL, Datalake, PowerBI);

6.    Provide support to other Global Risk team members in other areas, such as Counterparty, Operational, Financial, Regulatory or Investment risk topics, among others;
 

REQUIRED PROFILE

 

 

1.    ACADEMIC LEVEL

University Degree on Business Administration, Economics, Engineering (MBA and FRM/CFA a plus). Excellent Academic Record.

 

2.    REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

3-5 years of professional experience in a risk, energy, financial or consultant position.

 

3.    SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE

•    Experience with market risk in an energy company or financial institution (fronting or middle office)
•    Finance, Accounting and Statistics (MBA a plus)
•    Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PPT) and statistical tools (e.g. @Risk)
•    Knowledge of SQL, Power BI and other automation tools

 

4.    LANGUAGES

•    English – Fluent.
•    Spanish – Fluent.
•    Portuguese (a plus)

 

5.    SKILLS / COMPETENCES

•    Good analytical and quantitative skills
•    Good verbal communication and presentation skills
•    Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
•    Ability to work in a team-based environment, based on collaboration
