DUE DILIGENCE SENIOR ENGINEER

MISSION
Coordinate and provide technical support and cooperation with the global M&A and Development teams for the analysis of business opportunities and initiatives worldwide, related Wind farm, PV plant BESS and Hybrids projects.
Compile, process, and analyze the technical information needed for the opportunity assessment to ensure the application of uniform criteria when considering different investment alternatives enabling the best selection of projects. Calculate and provide the Capex figures for M&A transactions. Cooperate and coordinate some transversal activities such as the value engineering. As senior engineer shall be involved in different analysis concurrently and responsible for the big-portfolios analysis. She/he shall be also involved in the revision capex estimation of other teammates as part of the internal procedure. Maintaining and developing strong relationships with M&A and Business Development areas and other relevant stakeholders.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. PROJECT TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT:
Define and execute the scope of the technical assessment, according to the internal practices of the potential projects to be acquired: early development, advance development, ready to build, pre-construction, under construction or operational projects. Collaborating with the transversal engineering activity to supervise and support globally the M&A and Origination teams in the analysis (Due Diligence) of the business opportunities and initiatives of PV, Wind and BESS projects. Manage the initial engineering and design phase of projects analysis in all geographies where EDPR has presence.
Among others, following tasks and steps will be performed to assess all the technical matters related to wind farm, PV plant or BESS projects and its relevant electrical infrastructures:
o Perform the technical analysis of the available project documents.
o Execute the project site visits and report.
2. PROJECT PRE-DESIGN
Besides that,
o Project assessment; Location and interconnection, layout and footprint assessment, site conditions such as altitude, temperature, seismic level, wind, etc. Ground conditions including geology, geotechnical and hydrology and electrical system assessment.
o Permits and licenses technical assessment; identifying principal technical constraints and hazards.
o WTG and PV TECHNOLOGY assessment; Coordinate with Technology operational units the review of the project WTG and PV capital equipment suitability and proposals according CODs.
o Electrical Infrastructures design assessment; Coordinate with Technology operational units the revision of the project.
o Construction assessment
o Along with the PRE-ENG team, identify technical upsides and levers that optimize the project, mitigating technical risks, reducing CAPEX and/or increasing the revenues. Execute the needed predesigns of the civil, mechanical, and electrical infrastructures of the power plant to implement each of the levers observed.
3. CAPEX ESTIMATION:
Prepare an accurate and optimum CAPEX estimation of the potential project or investment opportunity. Prepare the CAPEX estimation for the additional studied scenarios through the executed pre-engineering. To work with the operational unit in the preparation of the DDBB
4. RISK ASSESSMENT:
Evaluate the technical risk of the project, identifying all the factors that could affect the development, design, construction, and operation of the future power plant. Analyzing the potential impacts on schedule or capex and proposing mitigation actions to minimize such risk.
5. PROJECT PLANNING ASSESSMENT
Assess the project master plan from the Vendor, considering the inputs related permitting from the Business Development area, and developing the own schedule for the engineering, procurement and construction phases.
6. CONTRACTS ASSESSMENT:
Support the Legal, M&A and Business Development teams within the preparation of the Supplemental Purchase Agreements and Development Service Agreements, ensuring that all the agreed technical scopes and conditions are well covered.
7. TRANSVERSAL SUPPORT COORDINATION:
Ensure the coordination of service provision from the Local E&C team and the different Technology areas as Civil & Mechanical, Electrical & Control and PV Technology, BESS Technology, and BESS engineering.
Coordinate the planned works and project information continuously and effectively to cross-functional teams, collaborate closely with various departments including M&A, Development, Origination, Procurement, Finance, Energy Assessment and O&M.
8. REPORTING:
Produce the projects preliminary finding reports and the final Technical Due Diligence report including the technical assessment. Actively develop and manage reports to management by producing regular and frequent project status updates and other reporting documents.
9. PROJECT DUE DILIGENCE TENDERS:
Prepare the RfPs for contracting the engineering and studies to external consultants. Review and evaluate the offers ensuring the selection of the best offer.
10. COORDINATION OF PROJECT TRANSFER:
Lead the transfer of the acquired projects to the Local E&C Team, ensuring the delivery of the full package of the VDR technical information and the developed information along the project technical assessment and pre-engineering.
11. STANDARDIZATION:
Follow the application of the common standards in the projects, supervising its adaptation to applicable local regulation, to avoid non justified deviations and maximize the investment efficiency with all the technical warranty needed.
12. COMPANY POLICY AND LEGAL COMPLIANCE:
Understand and apply policies to prevent occupational hazards, environment and quality to ensure implementation and compliance on tasks under their responsibility.
13. EDPR INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATION:
Represent EDPR to agencies and institutions, public and private, in matters relating to its jurisdiction to enforce the interests of EDPR.
REQUIRED PROFILE
1. ACADEMIC LEVEL
o Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited educational institution
o A postgraduate will be valued
2. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
o 6-8 years combined of engineering and management experience in the renewables energy industry
o Experience in coordination and planning of multidisciplinary teams and external engineering/consultants companies
3. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
o Knowledge of Solar PV and Wind technologies, as well as relevant BoP & BoS background
o Knowledge of contracting Engineering Services and EPC’s regarding renewable energy projects (performance requirements, warranties, LD’s, etc.)
o Knowledge of renewable energy infrastructures costs (engineering, equipment supplies and construction)
o AutoCad, ArcGIS, MSOffice, GIS, BIM
o PV Case or PV Syst shall be valuable
o Proficient knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite; high proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerBI required
o Knowledge of engineering and market economics and design optimization
o Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to renewable energy including civil and electrical engineering designs and detailed drawings, construction-related processes, environmental, and cultural studies.
o Knowledge of International technical normative

o Sapnish as mother language, English- C1
