R&D Engineer

CNET (Centre for New Energy Technologies), the EDP Group’s Research & Development (R&D) center, is reinforcing its A4E – Automation for Energy team through the recruitment of an R&D Engineer.
What you will do:
Participating in Research and Development (R&D) projects primarily in supporting automation processes involving image processing and/or Operational Technology configuration and/or robots/drones control configuration:
- AI/ML algorithms development and implementation.
- Writing specifications regarding project objectives and/or use cases and physical data acquisition paths.
- Contributing to various aspects of project implementation, including budget management, financial and technical reporting, interaction with stakeholders, communication of project progress and outcomes, etc.
- Overseeing demonstrators on site and coordinate /support field teams.
- Leading/supporting the elaboration of business cases, development of techno-economic models and innovative business models for the technology-based concepts developed.
- Providing support thorough technical expertise in the sourcing and conduction of applications for new projects/financing, writing proposals, forming international consortia, negotiating budgets, etc.
- Developing and providing expertise in new solutions and tools for use in European projects, in international consultancy projects and for business units within the EDP group.
- Support for the development Automation/Robotics topic in the EDP group.
- Contributing to international engineering consultancy projects and service provisions.

What are we looking for:
- Master or Doctorate in any Engineering closely related with the topics of Automation, Robotics, Data Science or Data Engineering.
- Solid knowledge of data acquisition systems and control systems, including physical data collection, Operational technology configuration, and command/control architectures/platforms.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in Automation and/or Robotics.
- Capacity to execute and deliver rigorous and well-balanced results in a timely manner, combined with flexibility and agility to work on various themes and projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A great team spirit, openness and ability to interact daily with internal and external. stakeholders on various topics and ask for help when needed.
- Good domain of Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Availability for short-term international trips (within the scope of the projects) with good companionship.
- Immense motivation, strong desire to learn autonomously, curiosity and a taste for challenging ideas and proposing new solutions.
- Additional skills to be valued (not mandatory):
- Knowledge of the Energy sector.
- Doctorate in an area relevant for the position.
- Programming experience in Python and relevant programming languages.
- Previous working experience in EU-funded projects (under FP7, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe or similar).
- Relevant programming content shared in repositories such as Git Hub.
- Knowledge of current Energy Policies and Strategies in Europe and initiatives and funding programs at the European Commission.
- Experience on the development and implementation of pilot projects.
- Knowledge of other languages (namely French or Spanish).
