The DGU Tech Services is looking to recruit a Monitoring and Observability Specialist.

What you will do:

Collaborating closely with teams managing monitoring platforms, this role drives the development of innovative solutions while leading initiatives to enhance system observability.

 

  • Optimizing and Designing Monitoring Solutions, design, implement, and improve monitoring solutions to ensure comprehensive system and application performance visibility. Leverage APM tools, Log Management Systems, and other technologies to track performance, proactively resolve issues, and minimize downtime, maximizing operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, development, and cross-functional teams to request, track, and coordinate the implementation of system configurations and observability practices;
  • Develop and optimize automation scripts for monitoring processes and problem resolution, improving operational reliability;
  • Configure customized dashboards and automated alerts to provide real-time visibility into system status and enable quick incident detection;
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret system performance metrics, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring SLA compliance while optimizing overall performance;
  • Consolidate data from multiple monitoring tools into a unified view to efficiently support IT operations and facilitate informed decision-making;
  • Proactively monitor critical business services and implement preventive measures to mitigate risks and avoid disruptions;
  • Participate in the implementation and refinement of system and monitoring tool configurations, ensuring observability solutions meet operational needs;
  • Align monitoring processes with service management best practices, based on frameworks such as ITIL, to enhance incident and change management.

What are we looking for:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, or a related field;
  • Strong experience with monitoring tools, with a preference for knowledge in ElasticSearch and Splunk;
  • Knowledge of Application Performance Monitoring (APM) platforms;
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and platforms like ServiceNow;
  • Knowledge in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Shell Script) for automating monitoring tasks;
  • Ability to develop real-time dashboards and alerts to ensure operational visibility;
  • Experience consolidating data into centralized observability platforms and applying best practices;
  • Knowledge of OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing, metrics, and logging in complex systems;
  • Coordination skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and integrate monitoring practices.
