What you will do
The Safety, Security, and Business Continuity (SSBC) department supports the success of EDP Renewables North America (EDP NA) by ensuring regulatory compliance and promoting a proactive, practical approach to worker safety, security, and operational resilience across multiple locations.
The Safety and Security Intern will support initiatives focused on human performance, contractor safety oversight, and risk awareness, helping drive continuous improvement across EDP NA operations.
Role Overview:
This role will also support the development of clear, effective safety and security communications for internal and contractor audiences.
This is a paid 10-week, full-time internship that will start on or around June 1, 2026, with an end date of August 7, 2026.
Main responsibilities:
Contractor Safety and Security Support
- Support contractor safety and security initiatives, including review of contractor incidents, trends, and compliance with EDP NA requirements.
- Assist with evaluating contractor safety performance data and identifying areas for improvement.
- Support coordination between Safety, Security, and Operations teams related to contractor risk management.
Safety and Security Communications
- Assist with the creation and distribution of safety and security communications, including safety alerts, lessons learned, and awareness materials.
- Support development of clear, field‑focused messaging for employees and contractors.
Additional Analysis and Support
- Conduct analysis across multiple data sources and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
- Support safety, security, and business continuity initiatives related to BESS operations and renewable energy projects.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of SSBC objectives.

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, industrial engineering or in a related field or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience
- Understanding or familiarity with data analytics tools
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate findings effectively.
Travel:
~10%, might have the opportunity to visit a site location

Physical demands & working conditions:
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
- Travel: Ability to travel (~10%) to rural solar/wind/battery storage sites in North America
- Walking: Ability to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
