Role Overview:
Project Development Senior Associate (DSA) supporting the New Development Initiative Team (NDI). NDI is responsible for identifying and securing new projects across North America to sustain the overall business. The DSA is a project management role in a junior leadership position on the front lines of business development for the Company and at the forefront of the renewable energy industry. This is a fast-paced, dynamic position leading the prospecting and development of utility-scale renewable energy projects across North America, primarily in the US. The DSA initiates and secures land agreements and grid-interconnection positions for new prospects. The DSA is expected to master the use of state-of-the art technical tools for prospecting and development analytics. The DSA will routinely collaborate up, down and across the Company to use the expertise and resources in the various departments. The role also includes leading the due-diligence of utility-scale assets that the Company may consider for acquisition.
On a daily basis, the DSA works closely with subject matter experts in every aspect of the utility-scale renewable energy industry. This includes our specialty departments such as Execution Project Management, Engineering, Investments, Legal, Finance, Government Affairs, Community Relations, Data Center Development, etc. The DSA is responsible for leading, growing, and being the subject-matter expert on a portfolio of prospects. The DSA must be a confident agent for NDI and for the Company. This includes initiating, cultivating, and sustaining relationships with diverse internal project teams as well as external stakeholders and contractors, landowners, community stakeholders, and public officials. Main responsibilities:
- Lead the establishment of new large-scale wind, solar, and battery storage projects.
- Initiate, negotiate and close real estate agreements with landowners at new project sites.
- Coordinate routinely with the EDPR Data Center Team to synchronize prospecting efforts.
- Create and update project maps and databases using GIS tools and other software.
- Represent EDPR in the field by engaging in community outreach and stakeholder management activities.
- Organize and attend educational and networking events.
- Conduct land, market, regulatory, and related project-level research.
- Initiate, manage and complete rigorous due diligence on new prospects and assets the company may consider for acquisition.
- Compile documentation, attend meetings, conduct necessary studies, and perform other tasks as needed to fully characterize potential prospects.
- Conduct risk analyses and present assessments & recommendations to senior leadership.
- Aid with efforts to secure critical transmission and interconnection contracts from utilities and transmission providers.
- Prepare proposals that are submitted to power purchasers including utilities, community choice aggregators, and commercial & industrial customers.
- Support internal reporting and project tracking efforts.
- Additional duties as required.

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible project management experience in the energy industry.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software; some knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software preferred.
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise (Preferred).
- Valid driver’s license

- Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary.
