Grid Operations Systems Engineer

Within its electricity transmission and distribution activity (the EDP Networks Platform) it currently manages operations in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil
Technical Operations TechOps department is looking for a Grid Operations Systems Engineer.
What you will do:
- Ensure the operation, administration, and continuous evolution of critical network and communications infrastructures, guaranteeing high levels of availability, performance, security, and resilience of communications services.
- Administer and support communications platforms and network services, including Cisco solutions such as Cisco CallManager, Cisco ISE, switching and routing, Nokia IP/MPLS, and DWDM optical transport infrastructures.
- Ensure the management and implementation of network security policies, including the configuration, validation, and optimisation of Cisco, Fortinet, and Check Point firewall equipment, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and service continuity requirements.
- Perform troubleshooting, performance analysis, diagnostics, and incident resolution activities in IP, MPLS, DWDM, datacentre, and unified communications network environments, promoting the continuous improvement of operational reliability.
- Participate in the definition of the technical architecture and evolution of telecommunications infrastructures, collaborating in the implementation of new solutions, technical testing, change validation, and go-live of new services.
- Ensure technical coordination with internal teams, suppliers, and technology manufacturers, guaranteeing the correct execution of projects, SLA compliance, and structured resolution of critical incidents.
- Ensure the operation and evolution of operator telecommunications services, including private mobile networks/PVNO, ensuring integration with telecommunications operators and the availability of the supported services.

What are we looking for:
- University degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Telecommunications and Computer Engineering, or a similar field, with relevant professional experience considered an advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience in the administration, operation, and support of IP network infrastructures.
- Experience in the operation and administration of IP/MPLS networks, including routing, switching, redundancy, QoS, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, and MPLS
- Knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLAN, VRF, VPN, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, STP, LACP, and high-availability technologies.
- Knowledge of operator networks, transport networks, optical communications, and telecommunications services, with experience in MNO/MVNO/PVNO environments considered an advantage.
- Experience in advanced troubleshooting in critical network and telecommunications environments, using diagnostic and monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of network monitoring and management, using protocols such as SNMP and Syslog.
- Knowledge of programming and scripting languages, namely Python, will be valued.
- Knowledge of ITIL methodologies, particularly incident, problem, change, and service continuity management.
- Good teamwork and interpersonal skills;
- Good knowledge of Portuguese and proficiency in technical English;
- Availability for occasional travel within the country;
- Availability to join an on-call duty scheme.
