MISSION

Provide technical support and cooperation with the M&A teams for the analysis of business opportunities and initiatives worldwide, related wind farm, PV plant and BESS projects. Compile, process and analyze the technical information needed for the project assessment to ensure the application of uniform criteria when considering different investment alternatives enabling the best selection of projects.

 

MAIN ACOUNTABILITIES

  1. PROJECT DESIGN AND TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT:

Based in Madrid, define and execute technical due diligence assessments for projects at various stages of development and operation. It includes collaborating with the transversal engineering team to support M&A and Origination teams globally in analyzing opportunities for PV, Wind, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. Additionally, the role involves managing the initial engineering and design phase of projects in all regions where EDPR operates, ensuring transversal coordination across geographies and technologies. The aim is to accelerate change, unlock value, provide distinctive engineering and technology guidelines, and extract additional value from the investments, leveraging new technologies/services. The company focuses on operational excellence and strong cash flow generation post-COD (Commercial Operation Date).

 

As part of it, the following tasks and steps will be performed to assess all the technical matters related the wind farm, PV plant or BESS projects and its relevant electrical infrastructures:

  • Perform the technical analysis of the available project documents.
  • Execute the project site visits and report.
  • Project assessment
  • Permits and licenses technical assessment
  • WTG and PV TECHNOLOGY assessment
  • Electrical Infrastructures design assessment
  • Construction assessment

 

2.  PROJECT PRE-DESIGN

Identify the technical upsides and levers that optimize the project, mitigating identified technical risks, reducing CAPEX and/or increasing the revenues. Execute the needed predesigns of the civil, mechanical and electrical infrastructures of the power plant to implement each of the levers.

 

3.  CAPEX ESTIMATION:

Prepare an accurate and optimum CAPEX estimation of the potential project or investment opportunity.

Prepare the CAPEX estimation for the additional studied scenarios through the executed pre-engineering.

 

4.  RISK ASSESSMENT:

Evaluate the technical risk of the project, identifying all the factors that could affect the development, design, construction, and commissioning of the future power plant and assessing its probability potential consequences.

 

5.  PROJECT PLANNING ASSESSMENT

Assess the project master plan from the Vendor, considering the inputs related permitting from the Business Development area, and developing the own schedule for the engineering, procurement and construction phases.

 

6.  CONTRACTS ASSESSMENT:

Support the Legal, M&A and Business Development teams along the preparation of the Supplemental Purchase Agreements and Development Service Agreements, ensuring that all the agreed technical scopes and conditions are well covered.

 

7.  TRANSVERSAL SUPPORT COORDINATION:

Ensure the coordination of service provision from the Local E&C team and the different Technology areas, as Civil & Mechanical, Electrical & Control, PV Technology, BESS Technology, and BESS engineering.

Coordinate the planned works and project information continuously and effectively to cross-functional teams, collaborate closely with various departments including M&A, Development, Origination, Procurement, Finance, Energy Assessment and O&M.

 

8.  REPORTING:

Produce the projects preliminary principal finding reports and the final Technical Due Diligence report including the technical assessment,

Actively develop and manage reports to management by producing regular and frequent project status updates and other reporting documents.

 

10. COORDINATION OF PROJECT TRANSFER:

Lead the transfer of the acquired projects to the Local E&C Team, ensuring the delivery of the full package of the VDR technical information and the developed information along the project technical assessment and pre-engineering.

 

11. STANDARDIZATION:

Follow the application of the common standards in the projects, supervising its adaptation to applicable local regulation, to avoid non justified deviations and maximize the investment efficiency with all the technical warranty needed.

 

12. COMPANY POLICY AND LEGAL COMPLIANCE:

Understand and apply policies to prevent occupational hazards, environment and quality to ensure implementation and compliance on tasks under their responsibility.

 

13. EDPR INSTITUTIONAL REPRESENTATION:

Represent EDPR to agencies and institutions, public and private, in matters relating to its jurisdiction to enforce the interests of EDPR.

 

REQUIRED PROFILE

  1. ACADEMIC LEVEL
  • Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited educational institution
  • A postgraduate will be valued
  1. REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
  • 3-6 years combined of technical/engineering and construction management experience in the renewables energy industry
  1. SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
  • Specific knowledge of Solar PV and Wind design practices and BOP-BOS engineering
  • Knowledge of contracting Engineering Services and EPC’s regarding renewable energy projects (performance requirements, warranties, LD’s, etc.)
  • Knowledge of renewable energy infrastructures costs (engineering, equipment supplies and construction)
  • Proficient knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite; high proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerBI required

  • Spanish
  • English- C1

  1. BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work in a multi-national team, with persons in different countries and labor calendar
  • Strong technical, analytical, quantitative, strategic and management skills
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to renewable energy including civil and electrical engineering designs and detailed drawings, construction-related processes, environmental, and cultural studies.
