The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for engineering, design and delivery of the electrical part (LV-MV-HV) in grid connected solar PV systems (including utility scale, commercial and industrial rooftops) and Windfarms on time and on budget.

 

The Electrical Design Engineer will manage proposals and bid/award process for obtaining these services and will provide project management and design consultation for all projects, review electrical system engineering designs, modelling, performance data and provide engineering support during the construction process.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engineering site audits to collect electrical and related site information for use in the design of commercial and utility scale power systems
  • Design and coordinate design of electrical (LV-MV-HV) systems, including system components and generation of BOQ/BOM to suit site condition and in accordance to solar engineering standards (MS, IEC, NEC etc)
  • Design and develop electrical single-line diagram, panel schedules and connection diagram for solar electric systems using computer aided design (CAD) software
  • Complete all electrical calculations in detail related to the project
  • Review specifications and recommend engineering or manufacturing changes to achieve solar design objectives
  • Evaluate plans or specifications to determine technological or environmental implications
  • Recommend technical design or process changes to improve efficiency, quality or performance
  • Provide technical support to Project Manager and Engineer during installation, start-up, testing, system commissioning and/or performance monitoring
  • Provide technical support during the prospecting/opportunities stages (seld-development and/or M&A processes)
  • Create checklists for review or inspection of completed solar installation projects
  • Analyze cost and benefits of proposed designs and performing cost reduction analysis for solar systems
  • Review of EPC’s scope of work, specifications and comments on design and installation.
  • Attend site visits during construction for review and inspection of installation works for solar systems.
  • Coordinate works with the rest of the Engineering and Construction team and with the applicable corporate teams 

 

Requirements 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 3 years experience in low, medium and/or high voltage infrastructures.
  • Candidates with little to no experience are welcome to apply
  • Working knowledge of standard electrical calculations, basic structural and mechanical calculations
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Autocad and energy modelling software
  • Proficient in English and Japanese (both spoken and written). Proficiency in Mandarin is desired but not mandatory.
