Operations and Maintenance Manager is a member of Asset Operations department. Leading and managing the team of site managers and supporting activities of Asset Managers, the person will be responsible for technical management over one of the biggest group of assets (wind farms and utility scale PV plants) in Poland.

 

O&M Manager is to be responsible at the operational level for the processes associated with the O&M management model and to provide support for the processes associated with the Asset Management model in a geographic region. Holding that position, the person is also responsible for supervising the service contractors, optimization of their works and material resources, thoroughly considering the best business opportunities and practices, according to company guidelines, to ensure maximization of production, efficiency, and availability of assets in the region, tracking budget execution and ensuring the implementation of actions to control associated costs, always taking care of the environment, health and safety of workers and local stakeholders.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  1. MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  1. Team Management
  • To exercise the leadership of the people in charge -O&M site managers-, setting goals, objectives and responsibilities; to define indicators to measure their performance and evaluating the results, defining action plan for improvement; to stimulate and motivate people, all with the purpose of contributing to their development.
  1. Company Policy and Legal Enforcement
    • Promote and control policies for the prevention of occupational, environmental and quality risks to ensure their application and compliance in projects under his responsibility.
  2. Support to the Management/Direction
    • Report and provide support to the Head of Asset Operations in all matters that refer to the plants in the region.
    • Provide technical support to the Asset Manager to facilitate the correct interaction between technical management and business management by complying with the guidelines defined in the governance model.
  3. Institutional Representation
    • Represent EDPR in front of public and private bodies and institutions, in matters related to his competence to assert the interests of EDPR.
  4. Interaction between Directions
    • Ensure coordination and teamwork with other areas of the organization to facilitate the implementation of interrelated activities.
  5. New Facilities
    • Monitors new facility construction in the region, and interfaces with the company’s project management, development and construction personnel as needed.
    • Promote the follow-up of the activities performed during the development and construction phases facilitating the process of putting the newly built asset to operations.
  6. New Investments
    • Collaborate in the search, selection and proposal of new investments in renewable assets to achieve cost-effective maintenance and operating conditions.
  7. Other asset life-cycle activities
    • Provide technical support and facilitate document management to ensure the correct development of processes associated with specific activities during the life cycle of assets such as life extension, repowering, hybridization and asset rotation, taking into account the associated policies, strategies and procedures.

 

  1. PROCESS ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  1. Environmental, Health & Safety
    • Ensure compliance with health & safety, labour and environmental laws, legal and internal requirements, to achieve the global strategic objective of zero accidents, with the support of the respective departments.
    • Promote a zero-accident culture to both own personnel and contractors, to facilitate the fulfilment of the company's global objective, ensuring that procedures and tools are in place to define, check and verify all safety rules, following the guidelines established in the corporate safety policy and implementing a safety culture at all levels of the Asset Operations platform.
    • Monitor key indicators associated with Occupational Health and Safety and the environment to ensure the performance of processes and compliance with the proposed objectives, using the tools defined for this purpose and taking the necessary actions to control and adjust possible deviations from the baseline.
    • Collaborate with Health & Safety and Environment departments in the definition and implementation of action plans (preventive and corrective actions) to prevent, eliminate and/or mitigate the risks identified in accident and incident investigations, following the defined procedures, and using the associated tools and applications.
  2. Stakeholder Management
    • Support the Asset Manager to manage claim stakeholder that allow an effective and timely response to requests, complaints, claims, among others, taking into consideration the commitments defined in the stakeholder relations policy, procedures, tools, and applications established.
  3. Crisis Management
    • Support the Asset Manager to manage at local on-site level all urgencies and crisis that will appear in any of the assets in the region and any moment, in coordination with the Asset Manager, the remote operation and dispatch center and the affected local stakeholders; evaluation the situation, defining priorities and stablishing action plans.
  4. Budget Management
    • Prepare the annual O&M budget. Submit the budget to the Asset Manager and align to define and prioritize the development of activities by identifying, analysing, and validating the needs to ensure the reliability, maintainability, and availability of the SPV's physical assets, presenting the results and justifications to the different levels of the organization.
    • Follow up and monitor the costs associated with O&M to detect and act on any deviation in accordance with established procedures and tools.
    • Report the actual cost and forecast of the O&M budget to the Asset Manager.
  5. Contract Management
    • Support the Asset Manager in the assurance of contractual obligations to avoid detriment to the company and guarantee the efficient development of the goods or services acquired in accordance with the established procedures and tools and the support of the respective departments.
    • Ensure the proper execution of the services required by the assets in terms of quality, cost, and time to avoid detriment to the SPV, considering the established procedures and tool.
    • Manage technical development of contracts to ensure compliance with specifications by following up on activity execution schedules, verifying the quality of the goods or services supplied and ensuring the execution of budgetary commitments.
    • Define action plan for implementing improvements and ensure efficient and timely execution of approved business cases to improve profitability and asset performance following specific methodologies and procedures and with the support of the departments involved.
    • Explore the local market of O&M service contractors according to the guidelines and support of the Head of Asset Operations to facilitate the identification of potential suppliers and achieve a greater plurality of bidders, considering the criteria defined by the purchasing department and other areas involved.
    • Support RfP process of technical services to ensure the incorporation of all technical, technological, and operational considerations that have a direct impact on the materialization of contracts and their execution, considering manufacturers' manuals and recommendations, the experience and technical knowledge of the support areas and specific procedures.
    • Ensure the development of the EoW/EoC (End of Warranty / End of Contract) processes to guarantee compliance with contractual obligations and identify the status and condition of the associated assets, in accordance with the defined procedures, tools and instructions.
  6. Operation & Maintenance
    • Enforce the maintenance policies set by the management of all renewable energy plants to achieve objectives and optimize the cost-benefit balance.
    • Define the annual maintenance plan to facilitate the development of activities related to the maintenance management strategy, in accordance with established procedures and tools.
    • Ensure compliance with the annual maintenance plan, focus on fulfillment and maintenance quality, to guarantee the reliability and availability of assets, avoiding the occurrence of failures and economic losses as well as reducing the risk of accidents or injuries due to malfunction or improper use of equipment, in accordance with established procedures and tools.
    • Manage Operational Analysis of the assets to know the periodic evolution of the assets and detect potential improvements in accordance with the established procedures and tools.
    • Ensure all activities related to O&M management model are correctly recorded (on time and with data quality) in CMMS to ensure traceability and facilitate the processing of information using defined applications and tools and considering the procedures and instructions.
    • Enforce the maintenance policies set by the company to ensure reliability and availability of assets in accordance with the defined standards and procedures.
    • Implement CAPEX improvement projects to add value to existing assets and extend their useful life by proposing and analysing the respective business cases and managing specific projects according to established procedures and tools.
    • Ensure O&M management model is properly applied (planning, scheduling, supervision, and execution, reporting and optimization) to ensure the management, control and monitoring of the model and achieve operational excellence in accordance with defined standards and procedures.
    • Ensure O&M management model routine activities are carried out and recorded to facilitate traceability and information processing using defined applications and tools, considering procedures and instructions and the support of other departments.
    • Ensure programming of the O&M management model activities to facilitate the administration of the available resources necessary for the optimal development of the defined tasks, considering the procedures and instructions and the established applications and tools.
    • Ensure the supervision of the activities executed to evaluate the efficiency and quality of the tasks, reporting the anomalies identified and ensuring the implementation of action plans to correct possible deviations.
    • Ensure WO's (work orders) information quality to facilitate data reliability, processing, and traceability by performing detailed review of the information, reporting anomalies identified in the records and ensuring necessary adjustments and corrections.
    • Ensure smooth technical transition from construction to operation to facilitate the incorporation of the assets into the production phase in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner considering the procedures and instructions and the established applications and tools.
    • Ensure compliance with the procedure defined by the DSO/TSO for consignment and intervention of equipment to develop the connection and disconnection of equipment in a safe and coordinated manner, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and procedures both internal and TSO/DSO.
    • Ensure safe and coordinated execution of connection and disconnection operations to ensure compliance with H&S and operational protocols in coordination with RODC and the TSO/DSO.
    • Lead improvement projects execution to ensure their successful implementation in accordance with the established procedures and policies with the support of the other areas involved.

 

REQUIRED PROFILE OF A CANDIDATE:

 

Academic Level

  • Degree in Engineering  (e.g. power engineering, electricity, mechatronics)
  • Postgraduate degree in business will be an additional attribute

 

Required professional experience

  • 3 years of experience in managerial positions
  • 5 years of experience in operating renewable energy facilities.
