EDPR is leading the energy transition, targeting to have 100% renewable energy generation by 2030 (“All green”). Between 2023-2026 we aspire to add > 4GW/year of renewable capacity, doubling its current footprint in both solar and wind. For wind specifically, EDPR plan to install 5GW between 2023-2026.

 

 

Given the growth ambition, a well-planned WTG procurement strategy is crucial for its success, and hence we are embarking on a strategic global sourcing effort with the development of a new Global Procurement team, together with the introduction of an operating model aimed at achieving strong long-term partnerships with selected world class highly qualified suppliers of WTGs (Original Equipment Manufacturers or “OEMs”).

 

 

The Global Procurement WTG Associate will play a key role to contribute in the development and execution of such ambitious strategy, aiming for the long-term global sourcing of WTGs.

 

 

The Global Procurement WTG Associate will assist the Global Procurement WTG Associate Director in any necessary initiatives and wind turbine procurement activities for a given region(s) of responsibility. This will include supporting and executing end to end tender processes and negotiations, involvement in transversal tasks such as process & procedures definition-implementation and building up strategic info data bases.

 

 

The Global Procurement WTG Associate will create a sustainable competitive advantage for the company and maximize value throughout the development of a wide range of relationships with the OEMs, relevant market/industry stakeholders and the internal areas of EDPR organization.

 

 

 

Main Accountabilities

 

 

1- Procurement Strategy

 

 

  • Drive and support the Global WTG Procurement Associate Director in all strategic initiatives towards the goal of achieving long-term partnerships with OEMs

 

 

2- Procurement Processes

 

 

  • Execution of RFIs, RFPs/RFQs and any necessary bid process to evaluate product options and select the right WTG OEM for a given project or set of projects.
  • Manage negotiations regarding WTG supply agreements (MOU, Letter Agreements, Side Deals, WTG Supply/Warranty/O&M contracts, etc.), involving as required other EDPR areas.
  • Compliance with EDPR internal approval processes and guidelines (procurement committees, formal capex approval systems, integrity due diligences, etc.)

 

 

3- Relationship Management

 

 

  • Contribute to develop a close network with all wind industry players and stakeholders having an impact on EDPR Wind business, including current and potential entrant OEMs (provide strategic market intelligence).
  • Cross-functional support/interaction/relationships with other EDPR areas, playing a pivotal role:

 

 

  1. Legal – close interaction for support and full alignment on any binding contractual agreements, including the development of standardized processes and templates for all contracting efforts.
  2. Business Development – Share information about permitting and turbine technology evolution; regular interactions about projects’ development to define the WTG sourcing strategy.
  3. Technology - monitor/evaluate new turbine technologies, mitigate risks, validate new OEMs through Technical Due Diligence, get assistance and validation on contract management for technical issues, provide and receive guidance on suppliers’ technical aspects and new trends.
  4. Construction – Supply agreement liaison, support on on-going issues during the project execution phase, Return on Experience on OEMs performance, get support from the area for improved contract management.
  5. Operations & Asset Management – leverage WTG acquisition to solve O&M problems and disputes, Return on Experience on OEMs performance and main issues, get support from the area for improved contract management.
  6. M&A – Work on financial model, obtention of detailed LCOEs, interaction to identify WTG CAPEX-OPEX targets, support to help close M&A deals with any WTG related matters.
  7. Origination – regular contact to understand Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) status or Build Transfer Agreement (BTA) negotiations and closing.
  8. Finance – turbine capex, modeling, optimization, alignment on desired payment methods.
  9. Risk – information on counter party risk related with WTG suppliers, new and incoming supply agreements with relevant T&Cs, and market trends & new risks.
  10. Energy Assessment – turbine modeling, optimization, loads/suitability analysis of turbines.
  11. Tax&Accounting – sales/use tax mitigation, duties, tariffs, INCOTERMS.

Expected min 25% (Supplier factories, supplier meetings, wind farm visits, industry fairs, global team meetings, etc).

 

 

Willingness to travel internationally when required.

 

 

 

Requirements

 

 

1- Academic skills

 

 

  • University Degree, preferably in technical and/or business financial areas.

 

 

2- Professional experience

 

 

  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience in Wind Industry, preferably in Procurement or Commercial.
  • Experience with supply contract management, contract models and industry terms and conditions.
  • Experience with strategic equipment procurement tenders, and market competitive analysis.
  • Competency in the development of Business Relationships.

4- Physical demands & working conditions:

 

 

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment.
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
